Laser hair combs work on the principle of phototherapy or light therapy. The correct laser frequency is concentrated on the scalp to increase blood circulation resulting in hair growth. The process, similar to photosynthesis in plants, is known as photobiostimulation. In a laser hair comb, lasers emit red (or cool) light waves which pass through the soft tissues of the scalp and about 5 to 6mm into the hair follicles. This light results in the increased molecular action of adenosine triphosphate(ATP) which stores and transports energy. This action increases cellular metabolism by stimulating the cells intake of nutrients and the removing waste products. In this process damaged tissues get replaced and repaired quickly resulting in increased hair growth and hair restoration.
The hand held device that you purchase should have a simple button to turn the laser on and off so you can use your hand held laser device as a regular brush. Convenience is probably one of the main factors for opting to buy a laser device for your own personal use, so do not choose one that is difficult to operate. Using the laser hair comb should be simple enough to do while watching your favorite television show. Like brushing your teeth to maintain healthy teeth and gums, regular laser hair comb usage is recommend to keep your hair looking its best. Follow the manufacturers guidelines and use only every other day for a total of 15 minutes or as directed for maximum benefit.
Exposure to toxic chemicals (including tobacco smoke), radiation exposure, iron deficiency, hormonal changes (pregnancy), thyroid disease and stress including crash diets can be factors. It is important to note that many of these conditions change and hair follicles that are not totally "dead" for more that seven years can re-grow hair. The use of a laser hair comb along with proper nourishment, vitamins, exercise and optimum scalp care including proper shampoos, scalp nutrients and conditioners can reawaken, open up and spur follicles back into action to produce hair. Follicles that may be producing fine, weakened hair shafts will start producing thicker, shinier and healthier hair.
We normally lose up to 100 hairs per day, but there are that many new hairs being generated in the follicles each day on a healthy head. At any one time 90% of the follicles are producing hair in a growth (anagen) cycle, but each follicle has its own time clock that can be influenced by age, disease, medicines and other factors. This timed life cycle has three stages. The anagen phase is active growth and lasts between two to six years. The catagen or transitional phase lasts from two to three weeks. The telogen or resting phase lasts two to three months, and at the end of this phase the hair is shed and new hair replaces it, starting the cycle all over again.
